About us

[
The group, formerly The Winchester Embroiderers' Guild, was founded in 1963 as a branch of the national Embroiderers' Guild. Although we have now reformed as an independent stitch group, we have retained an affiliation to the Embroiderers' Guild. We continue to embrace and promote all areas of textile and stitched art.

Our members enjoy getting together to hear speakers talk about all styles of embroidery, textiles and related subjects. We also hold workshops run by guest tutors and our own members. Regular competitions, challenges, projects and exhibitions form part of our programme.

In September 2021, we resumed face to face meetings on the second Wednesday of the month at St Barnabas Church, Fromond Road, Winchester SO22 6EF.
In October 2021 we changed venues for our monthly meetings to Fryern Pavilion/Fryern Community Centre..

We continue to hold our monthly meetings at Fryern Pavilion/Fryern Community Centre, Greenways, Chandlers Ford, Eastleigh SO53 2LE

The doors open at 1.45pm and the meetings start at 2.00pm.

There is a sales table of stitch related donations and a library from which members can borrow books.
